Whether you support the challengers
or not, it is vitally important that the incumbents see competition. Helping
their campaigns is important even if you vote the other way.
As well, if you are in another
state I hope you support the challengers there. We will never "throw them all
out" without challengers.

Garin
Decides to Sit This One Out
Kenosha, Wisconsin, July 11, 2010 -
Paulette Garin, 2008 Democratic Congressional Candidate, who had
been contemplating a 2010 run in Wisconsin's 1st
District, announced today that she is "sitting this one out."
"First and
foremost, I thank the wonderful people who have supported and
encouraged me."
Garin was
informed that 1st CD Executive Board of the
Democratic Party, in what she considers an 11th hour
move to save face, has apparently chosen to rally around and
support Board Member, John Heckenlivey, as their candidate for
Congress. Through emails and phone calls, Garin learned that
the Board, contrary to the long standing policy of not siding or
acting on behalf of one candidate over another met Saturday,
July 10, and chose to organize a last minute drive to assist
Heckenlively in collecting over 1,000 signatures by the Tuesday
filing deadline.
"The irony
about all of this is that after over a year of conducting a
search for a moneyed candidate they anoint John at the last
minute who intends to run the very kind of grassroots campaign I
asked them to consider all along."
"While I am
disappointed that the party took so long to embrace the idea of
a grassroots campaign, the good news is they finally appear
motivated to take measurable action. Still, it is impossible
for me to perceive most of the leadership in a serious manner.
Therefore, I am sitting this one out so that the focus of the
next few months is on defeating Paul Ryan and not the
dysfunctionality of the Democratic Party."
"I wish John
the best of luck."

This is the best
thing for Paulette at this point. The Dems seem very
disjointed and thanks to the Obama baggage I don't see them
winning in the 1st CD. Too bad we don't have a strong
Progressive or Green Party effort there and elsewhere.
I'm not
impressed with Ryan, though without a "Republican" label and
loyalty he could be a pretty decent guy. But right now he is
just another Republican Obstructionist who has set out to
prove Obama wrong on everything, even when he isn't and even
when he makes good decisions (which I'll admit is rare).
STATEMENT FROM MARK
NEUMANN ON RELEASE OF COP KILLER BEN SANDERS:
WAUKESHA, Wis. - July 14, 2010
- "Murderers simply should not be eligible for early release. In
the case of Ben Sanders, the killer of two police officers,
Sanders should be serving his entire term for his sickening
crimes, without any possibility of getting out early. If Ben
Sanders is allowed to walk, I can think of no stronger
indication of just how misguided our priorities as a state have
become."
I
agree with Neumann...
Please take a moment to vote for David Gill
in the Democracy for America Grassroots All-Star poll.
First-round voting ends July 16.
Dr. Gill must be in the Top 10 to move on to the
final round!
Currently, he stands at #29. Together, we can show how strong
grassroots support is for our candidate. Vote, and then pass
this email along to your friends around the country.
Dr Gill is a supporter of
HR676, and this will help him move forward in his run for
congress.

The Greatest and Worst
Presidents in History
A new
Siena poll of 238 presidential scholars ranks the top
presidents in American history: Franklin Roosevelt, Theodore
Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Thomas
Jefferson.
"Teddy Roosevelt had, more than any other president the 'right
stuff', and tops the collective ranking of a cluster of personal
qualities including imagination, integrity, intelligence, luck,
background, and being willing to take risks. Lincoln, according
to the experts, demonstrated the greatest presidential abilities
while FDR ranks first in overall accomplishments."
The bottom five: Andrew Johnson, James Buchanan, Warren G.
Harding, Franklin Pierce and George W. Bush.

The House approved this bill to further extend eligibility for
extended federal unemployment insurance for laid-off workers

Leave it
to Mr. Compassionate Conservative... or better, strategic
planning. The more voter unhappiness in November the greater
are his chances for re-election. Isn't he a nice guy?
"The more likely
explanation is that the Republicans want to block
anything that can boost the economy and create jobs.
Throwing people out of work may not be pretty, but
politics was never pretty, and it is getting less so by
the day."
