Also see incumbent's Personal Finances to see where potential conflicts of interest may occur with his voting on issues. Does he or she own stock in the health care or pharmaceutical industry while voting on the Medicare Drug program, which will benefit the industry to the tune of $750 billion in public expenditures over the next decade? Does your representative have his or her finances in a blind trust to eliminate such conflicts? Does he or she receive campaign contributions from the health care or pharmaceutical industries while voting down a universal health care system?
Special Note: Whether you are a Republican or Democrat, as a constituent you should be able to ask Kohl a question and get a straightforward answer; like "I support or oppose this measure or that measure." With Kohl, don't even think about it. I have asked him half dozen times where he stood on an issue and never, not even once, gotten a straight yes or no. It's like, "here's a description of the question you pose, now wait until I vote on it to see how I stand on it." He doesn't care how you think, and I find that very arrogant.

In 2000, this candidate
was contacted repeatedly over several weeks by Project Vote Smart staff
members and by prominent political leaders, and asked to do the right
and honorable thing by providing citizens with the critical information
that the 2000 National Political Awareness Test supplies. On each
occasion this candidate failed to provide voters with this information. Ratings by Interest Groups: http://www.vote-smart.org/issue_rating_category.php?can_id=S0981103 Votes by Category: http://www.vote-smart.org/voting_category.php?can_id=S0981103
